Structural Designer II
9 Month Contract
50 hours per week

$85k - $90k
Job Description
Operating under detailed instructions and review, the purpose of this position is to provide the essential technical knowledge and perform the work listed. This role has the responsibility to promote company competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. The purpose of this position is to work on design and perform 3D layout of moderate scope to support the Design Area Lead or Lead.
Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in model reviews using 3D review platform and create 3D models of moderate complexity
- Apply project drawing standards to design drawings and 3D layout
- Prepare 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings of moderate complexity
- Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of projects
- Develop estimates, schedules, progress reports, and key quantities tracking reports
- Incorporate health, safety, and environmental factors in design
- Review drawings, and vendor equipment documentation of basic to moderate complexity within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution
- Perform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations
- Deliver quality work, and adhere to the Operating System Requirements (OSR)
- Execute project work in accordance with approved Activity Plans
- Provide close interface with, and promote the understanding of other discipline functions
- Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures
- Participate in people development through mentoring of less experienced Designers
Preferred Qualifications - Related Education, Experience & Skills
- Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in technical field of study
- Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials
- Practical field experience
- Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
- Advanced knowledge of 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D CAD systems and procedures
- Intermediate knowledge of Intergraph SmartPlant Review software
- 3D modeling software (Intergraph SP3D, PDS, or PDMS)
- Basic knowledge of managing and leading a small/medium project
- 3D CAD systems and procedures

- Working knowledge of and ability to interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), update master P&ID and pipe line list
