Job Overview
The WTG Commissioning Engineer is responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, and performance validation of wind turbine generators at project sites. The role ensures that turbines are safely commissioned, meet OEM specifications, and comply with grid and project requirements. In hybrid renewable projects (solar + wind), coordination with solar commissioning teams and grid integration is critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform SCADA system checks, parameter configuration, and fault analysis
- Conduct turbine energization, synchronization, and grid connection activities
- Ensure compliance with OEM procedures and commissioning protocols
- Supervise and support WTG erection, cabling, and subsystem installation
- Coordinate with civil, electrical, and mechanical teams during installation phases
- Verify installation quality in line with technical drawings and standards
- Perform grid compliance tests (LVRT, HVRT, frequency response, etc.)
- Work closely with substation and solar plant commissioning teams in hybrid projects
- Diagnose turbine faults using SCADA tools and OEM software
- Provide root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions
- Support breakdown maintenance during initial operation phase
- Prepare and maintain commissioning reports, checklists, and test certificates
- Record test results, punch points, and closure status
- Ensure proper handover documentation to O&M teams
- Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies and procedures
- Conduct risk assessments and toolbox talks
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and grid standards
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical / mechanical / Renewable Energy Engineering
- 4+ years of experience in WTG commissioning preferably with OEMs like Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, GE, Nordex, etc. Renewable energy projects (wind or hybrid solar wind
- B.E/B. Tech in Electrical /Mechanical Engineering.
