Job Description
• Gordie Howe International Bridge Project – Michigan Interchange Segment
• Located in Detroit, Michigan, USA
• Works with civil superintendent to direct and coordinate personnel to ensure project progresses safely, on schedule, within all quality standards, and within prescribed budget
• Willingness to learn from experienced field engineers and superintendents
• Interface with team members to provide input as necessary to ensure that Project Controls reporting is accurate and timely
• Worked in civil construction, including concrete paving, asphalt paving, curb and gutter, sidewalks, excavation, backfill, roadworks
• Work with Superintendent and Project Engineer to identify and resolve design issues with Engineer of Record
• Coordinates RFls to clarify issues. Ensures RFI’s have had the involvement of engineering and technical specialists in solutions
• Maintain Daily Report for construction activities, performance, problems, manpower, equipment, etc.
• Hard working person with attention to details
• DOT project experience preferred
• Assist in management and coordination of activities among all project functions, engineering disciplines, procurement, contracts and construction
• Assist in creation/coordination of project manhour/cost estimates/budgets, and monitor progress/cost performance
• Conduct and/or coordinating meetings related to project operations, internal issue resolution, and communications with the client
• Responsible for coordinating proper inspections and testing for assigned scopes of work
• Construction site experience
Basic Job Requirements
• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and six (6) years of work-related experience; a recognized certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Preferred Qualifications
• Construction Management degree or global equivalent
• Typically has four (4) years of project experience
• Ability to speak/read multiple languages
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Basic or intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the basic or intermediate use of spreadsheets
