Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Reports To: Foreman
Job Overview: This position is responsible for loading, unloading and operating heavy equipment as necessary to complete the tasks given.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Must be able to operate heavy equipment, clean, and grease, oil and make sure all fluids are full.
• May also include shoveling dirt, sand, using short or long handle shovels, cutting or trimming trees and vegetation using axes, ditch blades, sling blades, chain saws or power weed trimmers; driving stakes or using sledge hammers, digging holes using hand-operated post hole diggers; operating hand-driven compaction devices, and brooming dirt and debris using hand brooms
• Loads, unloads, and stacks equipment and materials
• Maintains safe, clean jobsite, vehicles and orderly work
• Perform seeding, straw blowing, matting
• Install filter sock & silt fence
• Spots trucks or trailers on site
• Ensures proper installation and maintenance of temporary erosion and sediment control devices and pipe laying
• May also work on company farm as requested
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

• 2 years Prior experience with heavy equipment such as dozers, skid steers, excavation machines, and backhoes.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent vision or the use of prescribed lenses.
• Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines.
• Capacity to provide and follow direction.
• Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.

• I will abide by all safety rules that have been covered with me and that I have received a safety manual complete with all rules of safety and the conservation of the environment. If I see something that is not safe, I have the authority to stop the operation at any time.
