Job Title: HR Generalist
Location: Charleston, SC
Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire
Salary: $60,000-$75,000 DOE

Position Summary
The HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources department. This position is responsible for recruiting and onboarding, administering compensation and benefits, managing leave, supporting employee relations, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment regulations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and committed to fostering a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Lifecycle & Engagement

  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and offboarding.

  • Drive employee engagement through development initiatives and continuous improvement of HR processes.

  • Administer new hire orientation and employee recognition programs to promote company culture.


Recruiting & Talent Acquisition

  • Source, screen, recruit, and interview qualified candidates for open positions.

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand job requirements, competencies, and talent needs.


Training, Development & Compliance

  • Track and document compliance with required training, continuing education, and workplace assessments.

  • Lead training and development initiatives across the organization.

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and industry trends.


HR Administration & Employee Relations

  • Support HR programs including compensation, benefits, leave management, performance management, and employee relations.

  • Assist with disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations while ensuring professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Maintain accurate employee records and documentation.

  • Assist the Accounting department with payroll processing.


Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.

  • Regularly review and update HR policies, practices, and procedures to maintain compliance.

  • Adhere to all company policies and support organizational goals.


Other Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the company’s mission and evolving business needs.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

  • SHRM-CP certification preferred.


Experience & Skills

  • HR experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Experience with SAP software a plus.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments with minimal supervision.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including to locations requiring proof of vaccination.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and applicable standards.

  • Consistent, punctual attendance is required.

  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, reach, and lift as needed.

  • Exposure to fumes or hazardous chemicals may occur in certain environments.

  • Must be able to remain seated for extended periods while working at a computer.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly in person and via telephone.
