Job Description: Structural Engineer
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Duration: Full time/Direct Hire
Compensation: $75,000-120,000 depending upon experience  
Industry: (EPC) Engineering Procurement Construction
Reports to: Civil Engineering Manager
Position Summary:
The Structural Engineer is primarily concerned with designing and constructing buildings and structures that are safe and capable of withstanding the elements to which they will be exposed, as well as improving the structural integrity of existing buildings.
Responsibilities:
  • Designs structures by calculating the loads and stresses the construction will have to safely withstand.
  • Factors in the different qualities and strengths delivered by a range of building materials, and understands how to incorporate support beams, columns and foundations.
  • Investigates and surveys build sites to determine the suitability of the proposed location for the requirements of the upcoming project.
  • Coordinates and consults with other members of their projects, including engineers and architects.
  • Assists government bodies in their inspections relating to the project.
  • Solves technical problems and provides advice.
  • Prepares reports, designs and drawings.
  • Obtains planning and/or building regulations approval.
  • Monitors and inspects work undertaken by contractors.
  • Inspects properties to check conditions/foundations.
Skills and Requirements:
  • Strong grasp of physics and three-dimensional conceptual skills
  • Ability to apply principles of mechanics, mathematics and physics to construct safe, sustainable buildings
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with other members of the design team
  • Excellent mathematical, IT, and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Project and budget management skills
  • Good working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations
  • Knowledge of CAD, Revit, and RAM
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in Structural Design
  • Professional licensure in State of KY or the ability to receive reciprocity.
