Job Title: Technical Service Representative
Location: Charleston, SC / Remote

Salary: $65,000-$95,000

About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Service Representative (ATA) to support customers and prospective customers in the General Industry market. This role provides hands-on technical expertise related to coatings, application processes, equipment, and product optimization. You will serve as a trusted advisor—supporting product implementation, solving application challenges, and helping identify market opportunities for continued growth.

This position requires regular travel to customer facilities and offers the opportunity to work with advanced coating technologies in a dynamic, customer-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities
Market & Product Support
  • Provide technical support for the implementation of new products.
  • Monitor coating technology trends, application techniques, and equipment.
  • Manage testing of new applications and application systems for marketability.
  • Conduct competitive research and evaluate findings.
  • Present new products and advantages based on customer processes and requirements.
  • Identify customer needs and market opportunities to support business expansion.
  • Support product adjustments and customization per customer specifications.

Customer & Personnel Interaction
  • Maintain proactive development of technical and market knowledge.
  • Professionally represent the company with customers and industry partners.
  • Ensure documentation and reports meet internal standards.

Process & Application Support
  • Direct and document application-technological trials.
  • Advise customers on application equipment and parameter settings.
  • Test application parameters for new product developments in collaboration with the laboratory.
  • Organize workshops for customers and internal teams.
  • Develop internal and external application recommendations.
  • Document all internal processes including ATA reports and sample orders.
  • Troubleshoot customer application problems and complaints.
  • Define and communicate application windows.
  • Train customer painters and application engineers in proper methods.
  • Educate customers on pretreatment methods.

Financial & Administrative
  • Support goals that promote long‑term profitability.
  • Plan travel efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support department goals.

Education & Experience Requirements
  • High School diploma required.
  • Completion of hazardous waste training within 6 months of hire; annual recertification required (SCHWMR R.61‑79.262.17).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external customer interaction.
  • Intermediate knowledge of installations and technical systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of application techniques (nozzles, piston pumps, double diaphragm pumps).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally; some destinations may require proof of vaccination.
  • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Must be able to safely perform essential job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to mix paints and operate paint sprayers and related equipment.
  • Exposure to fumes and hazardous chemicals.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Clear verbal communication required for phone and in‑person interactions.
