Job Summary:
Manage the human and physical resources on multiple shifts in maintenance and preventative maintenance of machines, equipment and facility-related issues associated with the production of drive shafts. Make continuous improvements in dynamic cycle time/response time to satisfy customer needs in production operations by improving quality, productivity, utilization, service, cost and headcount objectives by training, motivating and managing employees in a team oriented production environment where Lean Manufacturing Principles, 8D’s, and continuous improvement are the norm. Work involves a thorough understanding of plant operations, company policies, practices, and procedures and the ability to resolve conflicts/issues through collaborative team efforts.
Essential Functions:
• Identify current and future maintenance goals and objectives as well as resolve maintenance problems by establishing rapport with management, engineering, quality, technicians, production personnel, and other persons in a position to understand maintenance requirements. Assist with design, implementation, and modification of preventative maintenance programs. Determine work priorities based on the overall goals and objectives then direct and track the maintenance staff accordingly.
• Train, develop, motivate, and lead the maintenance staff to achieve established goals and objectives related to machine repairs, building/repairing tooling/fixtures, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, facility-related repairs, and safety-related duties. Encourage employees to make suggestions to improve the production processes by leading and/or participating in Kaizen events, listening to suggestions, and promoting two-way open communications among employees, co-workers, peers and management. Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established safety practices. Regularly educate all employees in safe work practices and ensure that they understand their role in applying safe practices and maintaining housekeeping requirements.
• Manage equipment records to allow effective diagnosis, maintenance and improvement of machines and preventive / predictive maintenance plans.
• Responsible for understanding company policies, practices and procedures and for developing employees by coaching, counseling, and disciplining in accordance with such policies, practices, and procedures. Responsible for writing timely, objective performance reviews and communicating results in one-on-one meetings in a timely fashion. Develop, implement, and participate in work improvement plans for employees as appropriate in accordance with established company practices and procedures.
• Assist with recruitment and selection processes for maintenance staff.
• Contribute to the team effort by working in a collaborative manner to perform special projects and assignment that support the company’s overall goals and business objectives. Interface with customers, engineers, and management to support and/or suggest changes in processes and/or use of equipment to increase efficiency and quality of facility, equipment processes, or worker performance standards.

• Additionally, Supervisors are responsible for conducting operation specific training, including relevant environmental and safety information
Education:
• Associate’s degree in a related field and/or at least five (5) years of equivalent experience
Experience:
• Must be familiar with computer applications and/or controlled systems
• Must be familiar with Lean Manufacturing principles
• Must be familiar with plant operations and equipment
• Knowledge of job-related product information
• Knowledge of total productive maintenance principles (TPM)
• Must be able to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
• Must be familiar with OSHA, NIOSH, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software applications
• Must be familiar with TS 16949 and/or ISO9000 requirements
• Must be familiar with Statistical Process Control
• Must be proficient with PLC and PC based control systems
• Must have working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical power transmission systems.
• Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

• Excellent interpersonal skills to train motivate and lead employees
• Must be able to work any shifts and/or flexible hours

Desired – Education/Skills/Experience:
• SAP R/3 enterprise system preferred
• Ability to travel including internationally
• Familiar with Tier I and/or Tier II automotive supplier specifications
• Ability to read, write, and speak German preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to walk/move about a 125,000 sq ft manufacturing facility: 100% of the time
• Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area: 75% of the time
• Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop: 80% of the time
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs on a frequent basis: 70% of the time
• Must be able to lift over 40lbs on an infrequent basis: 30% of the time
• Must be able to sit at a work station: 30% of the time
• Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal: 30% of the time
• Must be able to work at heights up to 25 feet above ground level
• Must be able to work in confined spaces
• Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc.
• Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences
• Must be able to wear a paint suit and/or respirator
• Must be able to work with paints/solvents/cleaners
• Must be able to work any shift as required including overtime as needed
