• A relevant engineering or construction background you will have experience in similar role, with a particular interest in HVDC/HVAC substation design, supply, installation and energisation
• Experience of working with National Grid and / or Offshore Development systems and processes would be beneficial but not essential
• A good / developing level of competency in project management
• High regard and good knowledge of current UK health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the application of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 and Electrical Safety Rules.
• Great communication interpersonal skills essential
The primary function of the role is to support the HVDC Package Manager in coordinating the HVDC system multidiscipline team, attending and minuting meetings, reviewing and chasing actions, preparing and reviewing internal reports and communicating messages within the team and to external stakeholders. Ability to manage specific aspects of project management as directed by the Package Manager and to provide briefs and updates as necessary in setting the direction and steering of the Package.
Additionally and under supervision of the HVDC System Package Manager, the role will include specific duties in the management and delivery of the SOWF AC Grid Connection at Lackenby substation. Works to be completed as unlicensed work by National Grid comprise a single bay 400kV GIS extension which is presently in Tender Phase. Duties include the closeout of the Tender process, coordination and placement of the contract and the management and execution of the connection extension.
As clients engineer, oversee the HVDC contractor’s design, supply and install of the 400kV AC between Lackenby NGET Substation and the new Onshore Converter Station at Lazenby, circa 1.5km twin circuit ducted cables.
Establish and manage processes for:
• Management of Health and Safety including HAZOP, HAZCON processes
• Progress Review and Reporting
• Technical Design Review
• Interface Management
• Management of Cost and Time
• Management of Quality and Compliance with Specifications
• Installation and Commissioning
