The role involves working closely with the Carpentry Senior Superintendent, Services Manager, Production Manager, Project Managers, and the Production teams or other internal departments as required to ensure that all assigned scopes are executed safely, on time, and within budget, in accordance with the contract and the Company's Management System.
Duties & responsibilities:
- Supervises all related system activities in the workshop and other worksites and ensures that related works are carried out safely, on time and on budget according to project contractual obligations.
- Ensures production line efficiency and proper housekeeping in the workshop and when required prepares budgets/cost estimates for production/projects.
- Solution orientation and doing it right the first-time mindset is a must, with a proactive approach of solving issues before they become problems.
- Lead and manage carpentry repair teams, including tradespeople, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Ensure, in conjunction with the Procurement Supply Chain Group, that all materials and equipment are procured and delivered in accordance with the production and project’s contract requirements.
- Ensure effective and consistent interaction with other disciplines, management and supervision as required.
- Ensure that all production/project materials are used as defined in procedures and manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Liaise with the engineering department/related vendors regarding the project’s carpentry activities.
- Liaise with other trades to ensure project schedule adherence.
- Lead daily and weekly progress reporting efforts, ensuring supervision teams collect accurate physical progress data.
- Provide feedback for bid preparations, whether for feasibility and tendering and/or change of scope.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related engineering field or diploma with extensive proven experience.
- Carpentry/GRP/Insulation related professional qualifications or relevant time served.
- Proven experience of working in a major shipyard or equivalent industry equivalent level.
- Real and proven in-depth knowledge of accommodation refurbishments and retrofits/conversions with major carpentry SOW whether on Rigs or Ships. General carpentry/insulation/outfitting and GRP piping works in a shipyard environment focused on ship/rig repairs.
- At least 9 years’ experience in carpentry/outfitting/insulation/GRP in reputable large shipyards or equivalent industry, with proven, hands on and depth knowledge in machining works.
