DUTIES:
• Work as a contractor under the supervision of client’s Specialties employees and support lab efforts including but not limited to running lab scale reactions and isolations, Haake, and other research activities in lab/EMT/piloting facilities, standard property tests, and analytical support of client’s projects including UV-Vis spectrophotometry, particle size analyzer, GPC/HPLC, etc.
• Perform routine instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting as required, maintaining efficiency and data quality. New method developments for client’s projects.
• Provide analytical and/or technical support to piloting operations possibly covering off-shift during operation. Coordinate with client employees to collect and submit data in a timely manner in order to assist timely operations.
• Prepare / submit samples for rheology, thermal, mechanical, and physical testing and ship samples for external evaluation.
• Participate in lab and work area cleaning activities, including general housekeeping, maintain chemical inventories, and transfer / dispose wastes
REQUIREMENTS:
• Safety oriented: Able to work in the laboratory setting using appropriate PPE’s and be vigilant about safety of self and others.
• Degrees/ Experience: Minimum BS, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry or related discipline; wet chemistry skills preferred. Previous industrial experience is a plus.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of organic chemistry, organic synthesis, polymer synthesis, or related experience.
• Good technical, written and verbal communication skills. Maintain an accurate notebook describing research conducted and prepare summary reports as needed.
• Good interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to effectively work with employees in Technology organization
