Job Title: Commissioning Manager (Complex Processing)
Location: Augusta, GA 30906
Industry: complex processes (industrial metals refining, furnace, secondary smelter, material handling)
Status of Hire: full-time, direct hire
Pay: $120-150k base plus up to 15% annual bonus (depending on experience)
Reports to: Commissioning Director

Overall Objective:
As the Commissioning Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations on the job site related to equipment installation during the construction and start-up phases. You will be responsible for supporting the Commissioning Director in providing input to the project team on required costs and services, execution methodology, schedule, risks, and strategy related during project development & estimation. You will maintain relationships with project personnel and interface with the erection team and equipment design and engineering (D&E) firm to ensure alignment with internal quality & safety standards during equipment installation.

Responsibilities:
Equipment installation supervision:
Provide leadership direction for equipment installation, including the management of quality, timeliness, safety, as well as mentoring project team members
Responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering equipment installation contractors and supporting activities, including planning, sequencing, commissioning, & start-up
Maintain responsibility for execution of equipment installation, ensuring that it is delivered within contract requirements, internal standards of quality, safety, & performance expectations, and local regulations.
Proactively support identification & mitigation of risks to schedule and budget, resolve problems, and coordinate turnover to operations
Performance management and reporting: support Construction Director in managing schedule and budget, performance, facilitating progress reporting, and initiating action to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget and according to specifications.
Project coordination:
Support interface with the internal project teams and equipment supplier teams, contractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies – support selection of partners and suppliers and budget management decisions
Support project in completing all required permitting activities before commencement of equipment installation and support coordination of equipment delivery schedule
Work closely with the engineering team to ensure that equipment installation activities are aligned with the engineering design and with the procurement team to ensure that required materials and equipment are ordered and delivered on time

Experience/Education Requirements:
10+ years construction/equipment installation experience, including leading multiple discipline teams on projects of similar scale and complexity (experience in the U.S. strongly preferred)
Relevant prior experience in industrial plant construction/equipment installation as EPC contractor, construction manager, or owner’s representative/agent preferred, especially in the metals complex processing industry
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field
Proven leadership and planning background with demonstrated success in improving construction/installation performance
Advanced knowledge of construction management and equipment installation processes, means, and methods
Expert knowledge of building products, equipment and construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
Ability to plan and see the “big picture”
Competent in conflict and crisis management
Leadership and human resources management skills
Excellent time and project management skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
