Job Description for Summary:
Construction Manager required in Pembrokeshire Wales, our project team is executing a world class expansion of one of Europe’s largest liquefied natural gas regasification terminals, the terminal currently has the capacity to process approximately 20% of the UK’s current natural gas needs
The terminal is a strategically significant link in the world’s first fully integrated supply chain that stretches from the gas fields off the north east coast of Qatar to the deep waterway of Milford Haven.
This Incremental Capacity Project is the installation of one (1) additional submerged combustion vaporiser (SCV), process platform and required utilities, interconnecting piping, cables and instrumentation at the Terminal, with the new equipment items of the same technology and capacity as the existing equipment at site. Current value of Project is <£50M TIC
.
As the onsite the Construction Manager you will oversee and direct the performance of all field construction activities in conformance with plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates. The role requires an authoritative knowledge and background of assigned work, and holistic grasp of complex situations, the ability to move between intuitive and analytical approaches with ease, to identify and resolve issues in order for the project to meet project milestones.
This position directs construction staff and line supervision as necessary in their respective roles to meet or exceed all project objectives as part of the construction services. This position requires the ability to coordinate and direct construction activities in numerous crafts and/or to manage contractors/subcontractors for the same within the assigned area of responsibility. The Construction Manager will be responsible to ensuring sub-contractors are working to agreed programmes and contracts issued.
The Construction Manager will need to manage and align the out put of different design entities, manage significant interfaces with client and or other projects that will be ongoing in parallel in the same facility. The Construction manager shall provide input into schedules to ensure engineering / procurement deliverables align with construction schedule.
The Construction Manager will need to integrate with client’s organisation and jointly develop and implement project procedures and processes from Health and Safety implementation, Quality Control development and implementation, through project reporting, and management of completions.
The role will report to the Project Director.
Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assure that all requirements are met in line with project objectives and procedures
• Execute field construction activities in conformance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, procedures, quality requirements and safety standards
• Control project schedule and cost through the efficient use of all construction resources including manpower, and site progress
• Monitor productivity and cost and implement appropriate action to maintain maximum labour productivity and cost-effectiveness
• Play an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed
• Direct and held responsible for all staff assigned to the project(s) through direct reports typically consisting of managers and supervisors heading up the various functions (i.e., Safety Manager, Quality Manager, Construction Manager/Superintendents, Engineering Manager, Contracts Manager, and others as appropriate for the project in line with client expectations
• Typically serve as lead person to coordinate all activities and communication within the client and interfaces on site.
• Generally responsible to assure all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance with all pertinent requirements and procedures
• Responsibility typically includes serving as the single point of accountability to senior management, the client.
• Excellent skills in interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, communication, and leadership; possess strong presentation ability to address senior management, client management, and total project personnel with command
• Functional proficiency in project controls, human relations, and contract management as it applicable to assigned area of responsibility; possess the capacity to direct those functions as required to support the project execution while typically being well seasoned in most functions as they apply to management of the project.
• Adhere to and be a leader in projects Health and Safety Policies and Practices
• Provide input to Construction Execution plans specific to project
• Coordinate and develop technical work procedures consistent with project design and construction requirements
• Monitor performance and generate weekly reports on project activities.
• Organize and prioritize a variety of multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner
This position will be based onsite in Pembrokeshire, Wales, and may require trips to the Farnborough office.
Typical Minimum Qualifications – Related Education, Experience & Skills:
• Accredited 4-year degree or global equivalent in engineering or construction management
• Previous construction experience in planning and preparation of construction execution.
• Previous Construction Management experience on site
• Demonstrate leadership abilities
• Demonstrate Leadership in Health and Safety.
• Demonstrate ability to work within a large project team
• Excellent commination skills
• Demonstrate strong decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability promoting outstanding customer service and client relations
• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets, and presentations programs
• Manufacturing and or pharmaceutical experience preferred.
