SUMMARY:
The Solar O&M Director will be responsible for oversight of 3rd party O&M providers across the United States to ensure optimal performance of the company’s utility-scale solar PV plant portfolio. This includes the fiscal well-being of the assigned projects, and continuous evaluation of improved performance. This position will report to the VP of Operational Excellence.
DUTIES:
• Manage multiple project tasks with O&M partner including resources, schedules, operations, and reporting for US utility-scale solar operational PV power plants
• Ensure plants are operating and meeting safety and quality requirements.
• Manage spare parts strategy.
• Review monthly operations reports provided by O&M partner.
• Review preventive and corrective maintenance reports provided by O&M partner.
• Review and approve O&M provider Change Orders, as appropriate.
• Coordinate with performance team and O&M partner to identify underperformance issues and resolve as necessary.
• Coordinate with O&M partner on OEM Warranty reviews, warranty submissions, warranty tracker, manufacturer warranty compliance, RMA, and warranty parts return, as necessary
• Provide feedback to O&M partner based on performance, safety and quality data and reports
• Track and analyze data related to corrective maintenance issues and costs.
• Manage cost modeling for corrective maintenance budgets for pipeline projects.
• Manage 3rd party environmental compliance consultants for operational obligations and review reports.
• HOTO leader and on-boarding of O&M partner including turnover deliverables review and closure.
• Develop and manage SBE SOPs and other documentation for O&M and ROC.
• Work with the Procurement and AM teams as required on contract review, negotiations, management, and budgeting.
• Ensure the control room and sites maintain NERC and FERC compliance requirements.
• Exhibit knowledge of AC power generation, HV/MV T&D equipment, systems and utilities requirements.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual operational reporting for plant fleet.
• Collect data and generate reports, as well as review all third-party test results.
• Monitor SCADA and Plant Control System software and work with SCADA team on necessary updates.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's Degree in quantitative discipline. (e.g. engineering, mathematics, economics).
• Advanced degree or additional certifications such as PMP preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, preferably with solar power plant operational experience including high voltage.
• Previous experience with NERC GO/GOP requirements; coordinate with O&M partner and NERC consulting partners on GO/GOP related items and requirements.
• Understanding of integrated plant operations and prior operational experience a plus.
• Able to demonstrate competent technical knowledge of general plant and system processes, electrical and SCADA systems.
• Able to demonstrate competent technical knowledge in analyzing equipment performance and identifying performance issues using software tools.
• Experience with PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, and network communications and monitoring.
• Proficiency in understanding various owner’s manuals, read and understand electrical schematics.
• Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, I-V Curve Tracing, Meggers, and Ground Fault Detection.
• Strong Analytical and Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found.
• Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard practices.
