Location: Mooresboro, NC 28114 (bordering Boiling Springs, SC)
Status of Hire: full-time, direct hire, salaried with bonus
Pay: $120-150k plus up to 15% annual bonus
Industry: metals, industrial processing/manufacturing
Direct Reports: 2 (sold waste practitioner, environmental coordinator/assistant)
We currently seek an Environmental Manager for a direct hire position within our client’s team of experienced professionals. Based in Mooresboro, NC, the Environmental Manager’s main responsibility is to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal environmental requirements for the company’s NC location. This person manages all aspects of the environmental department including environmental compliance and works with other members of the HSE team and company employees in the implementation and monitoring of all environmental programs and processes. They will represent the company during Environmental audits. Must be committed to safety and protection of all personnel and the environment.
Job Description:
• Oversight and implementation of water, air, and RCRA permitting scopes. This could include, but not limited to, NPDES industrial and storm water discharge permits, synthetic minor air permit, and various RCRA action documents.
• Establish and maintain recordkeeping systems to meet compliance requirements of each of the regulatory programs referenced above.
• Initiate strategic planning and guidance collaborating with operations, maintenance, projects team, laboratory, and technical departments to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements.
• Represent the company with Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies.
• Develop, author, implement and monitor environmental policies, procedures, and documents.
• Coordinate environmental audits and drive corrective actions to address findings.
• Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
• Respond to all hazardous materials related incidents to ensure proper cleanup, disposal, and regulatory reporting (if required).
• Create, implement, monitor, and train employees on all Environmental Control Programs related to waste management, stormwater best management practices, emissions control, and associated periodic reports to the agencies
• Perform and/or coordinate sampling as needed.
• Supervise two environmental specialists.
• Lead and coordinate environmental projects with external contractors and consultants.
Job Requirements:
• A completed Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field of study is preferred (combination of education and strong work history is also acceptable)
• 10+ years of experience serving as an environmental technical resource, environmental manager, program specialist, and/or program manager in an industrial processing (oil, gas, metals, chemicals, nuclear power, etc.) environment
• Ability to develop, implement, and document effective environmental programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with State, Local and Federal regulations. Includes RCRA, CAA, CWA, DOT, etc.
• Ability to establish and maintain environmental permits, registrations, and licenses
• High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
• Well-developed communication skills, oral and written
• High attention to detail
**Must be authorized to work in the US regardless of visa transfer or sponsorship
**Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, and background check to be eligible for hire
**Local candidates preferred, full relocation available for candidate outside a commutable distance
