We are seeking a Fitter Assistant to be based in Boksburg, who will support fitters in the assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment. The role involves assisting with workshop tasks, preparing tools and materials, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, and following technical instructions under supervision. This position is ideal for an individual with basic mechanical knowledge who is eager to gain hands‑on experience in a workshop or industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and handle tools, equipment, and materials required for daily tasks.
- Support in fault finding and basic troubleshooting under supervision.
- Perform basic mechanical tasks such as cleaning parts, measuring, cutting, and fitting components.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the workshop and work areas.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality procedures at all times.
- Assist with equipment inspections and routine maintenance checks.
- Follow technical drawings, instructions, and work orders as directed.
- Report defects, safety concerns, or faulty equipment to the fitter or supervisor.
- Support continuous improvement by working efficiently and assisting where required.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Grade 10 or Grade 12 (Matric) preferred.
- NQF Level 2–4 in mechanical engineering, fitting, or a related technical field (advantageous but not always essential).
- Minimum 1 year of relevant workshop or mechanical experience.
- Entry‑level candidates with basic mechanical exposure or practical training will be considered.
- Basic understanding of mechanical tools, equipment, and workshop practices.
