This is a contractor hire opportunity with long‑term potential, offering exposure to a large capital project from early engineering through construction.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will provide lead engineering oversight for a mining concentrator project, working closely with internal stakeholders, EPC partners, consultants, and contractors.
The role will be home‑office based in Vancouver for the first few years, transitioning to site support during the construction phase. Relocation willingness is important.
Work Location: Must be Vancouver based or open to relocate in Vancouver
Employment Type: Independent Contractor
Contract Duration: 1 year term with possible extension
Hourly Rate: Commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities
- Provide lead‑level engineering oversight for a large mining / mineral processing project
- Act as a senior technical authority within a concentrator environment
- Interface with EPC partners or Owner’s project teams
- Manage and coordinate consultants, engineering firms, and contractors
- Support project engineering deliverables from study and detailed engineering through execution
- Provide technical guidance, review, and approval of engineering outputs
- Support construction planning, readiness, and site execution when required
- Lead and mentor indirect reports and influence multi‑disciplinary teams
Qualifications
- Civil/Structural engineering background
- P.Eng designation (Canada)
- Strong background in mining, minerals processing, or concentrator projects
- Experience working on either the EPC or Owner side (both preferred)
- Demonstrated experience operating in a lead engineering capacity
- Proven ability to manage external consultants and contractors
- Comfortable working from a home office initially and transitioning to site‑based support
- Willingness to relocate or support site construction phases as required
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
