We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Lead Internal Auditor to join our client in Doha, Qatar. This strategic role is responsible for overseeing internal audit operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and enhancing the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control systems.

In this role you will be a member of the Group Internal Audit Team and reports to the Chief Internal Auditor.

Duties & responsibilities:
  • Independently perform/ lead complex operational and financial audits of allocated business and risk areas in accordance with the IIA standards. 
  • Assist in the annual audit planning process by performing effective risk assessments.
  • Conduct effective risk-based planning of audits to identify and scope in high-risk areas and de-scope lower risk areas and prepare Risk & Control Matrix (RCM) and Audit Program.
  • Draft audit reports and recommendations and agree on practical management action plans with stakeholders. 
  • Support and advise relevant parties with the implementation of corrective / preventive actions and verify the implementation effectiveness.
  • Conduct special reviews including advisory and fraud investigations when needed.
  • Assist and liaise with the external and government auditors in conducting their reviews.
  • Assist and provide guidance to Internal Auditors as part of an audit team or independently.
  • Educate and guide department managers and employees regarding internal audit methodology and processes to increase awareness of internal audits requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar discipline from a reputable university.
  • At least 8 years of experience in internal audit, preferably within the Maritime & Logistics industry or similar Industry (Big four experience is highly desirable). 
  • Thorough knowledge of audit techniques and methodologies, the IIA standards, COSO, concept of internal controls, risk management, and compliance.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and report writing skills and familiar with Oracle ERP and data analytics (ACL, Power BI)
