Mechanical Department Manager

The Mechanical Manager oversees all mechanical repair and maintenance activities within the shipyard. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in marine systems, and hands-on experience in mechanical-related activities for maintaining, repairing, and upgrading vessels.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Propulsion System Maintenance

• Overhaul and alignment of main engines and auxiliary engines.
• Shaft line inspection and bearing replacement.
• Propeller repairs, polishing, and balancing.

Pump and Valve Servicing

• Disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of various pumps (centrifugal, gear, screw, etc.).
• Valve testing, lapping, and replacement.
• Pressure testing of systems after maintenance.

Hydraulic Systems

• Repair and testing of hydraulic actuators, cylinders, and motors.
• Replacement of hoses, seals, and fittings.
• System flushing and contamination control.

Steering Gear and Rudder Systems

• Inspection and repair of rudder stocks and bearings.
• Hydraulic steering gear maintenance.
• Alignment and torque testing.

Deck Machinery

• Winch and windlass overhauls.
• Crane and davit servicing.
• Lifeboat launching system checks.

Boiler and Pressure Vessel Work

• Boiler cleaning, tube replacement, and refractory repairs.
• Safety valve testing and certification.
• Pressure vessel inspections and hydrotesting.

Qualification:

• Master's/Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
• Marin related certificates
• Experience in Mechanical related activities in a shipyard
• At least 15 - 20 years of Shipyard experience
