To support the growing business (Renewable/Circular Energy) of our client, we are looking to recruit a Solids Handling Mechanical Engineer to join their team in the Randstad area (The Netherlands).

Your job:
As a Solids Handling Mechanical Engineer you:
• develop solids handling equipment and machinery from concept through basic engineering up to EPC and startup of the refinery complexes,
• monitor and analyse that concept and equipment selection is optimized considering technical and commercial performance (including HSE),
• supervise licensors and engineering contractors of the solids handling system and equipment,
• define technical requirements for equipment selection, supplier selection, and start up and operational requirements,
• perform supplier selection and follow up delivery and installation of equipment and package units, and - be the point of contact for clients and suppliers regarding questions and comments.

Your (Key) Responsibilities:
As a Solids Handling Mechanical Engineer will:
• Develop package equipment and machineries including silos, belt and screw conveyors, truck loading, cranes, weighing devices, metal detectors, pelletizers, rotary valves, pneumatic handling systems.
• Participate in the projects in all phases: Concept/BEP/FEED/EPC to ensure continuity and that all learnings are maintained in the project and taken from project to project.
• Maintain the (internal) mechanical knowledge database with learnings from each project.
• Upgrade the knowledge base with new developments in the mechanical field and where necessary develop partnerships with key suppliers.
• Monitor and advise on commercial advantages to be achieved and being cost conscious
• Prepare, check, and approve data and deliverables including calculations, datasheets, drawings, equipment layout, material handling study, requisitions, bids evaluations, vendor documents, etc.
• As the owner of the equipment, proactively interface with other disciplines to ensure that all project requirements are met.
• Coordinate meetings with the relevant bidders and vendors, evaluate pros and cons to get the most technical feasible solutions.
• Support the construction and be ready to work on construction sites in The Netherlands and other European countries.
• Prepare standard tools, procedures, and guidelines to size and design the solid equipment
• Assist process department for all relevant process documents

Your Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills And Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8 – 15 years of experience in solids handling equipment in engineering and EPC projects with companies/contractors.
• Experience and knowledge on powder, granules and pellets materials handling and dust explosion mitigation techniques.
• Experience on site construction, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience on preparing and checking engineering documents including calculations. drawings, datasheets, requisitions, ITP, etc. in liaise with client and suppliers.
• Experience of vendor quality alignment including design documents, fabrication, inspection, and performance tests.
• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability, and cost of materials/equipment.
• Advanced knowledge of equipment through all stages of a project from conceptual phase to design development, construction, and commissioning.
• Communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written, Dutch is an advantage.
• Well versed in relevant internationally acceptable codes, standards, regulations, and best practices such as but not limited to ASME, EN, API, PED, ATEX.
• Experienced on MS office, review and redlining tools, AutoCAD.
• Flexible and willingness to travel (clients, projects, vendors, etc.).
• Already based in the Netherlands or eligible (valid work permit) to work in Netherlands.

A bonus would be if you also have:
• Knowledge on rotating equipment like pumps and compressors
• Experience in process and utility packages
• Experience in pelletizer plant design
