Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical design and review for mining infrastructure (conveyors, crushers, mills, pumps, piping, workshops).
- Construction supervision and contractor management.
- Equipment selection, procurement support, and vendor evaluation.
- Installation, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems.
- QA/QC inspections and compliance with engineering standards.
- Troubleshooting mechanical failures during construction and ramp-up.
- Cost control, schedule tracking, and progress reporting.
- Ensuring compliance with HSE and mining regulations.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in mining, heavy industrial, or large-scale construction projects.
- Professional registration (or progress towards): ECSA (South Africa) / Pr. Eng. / Pr. Tech. Eng. (strong advantage).
- Proven experience in mining construction projects (underground or open-pit operations).
- Experience through at least one full project lifecycle (design - construction - commissioning).
- Familiarity with engineering standards: ASME, ISO, SANS, API (depending on project/country).
- Mechanical design and drafting review (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
- Strong understanding of mechanical installation tolerances and alignment.
