- Responsible for all aspects of repairs relevant to Mechanical, Rudder & Propeller, and Machine shops works.
- To Co-operate with the Project Manager, Ships staffs and Superintendent in order to:
- Identify work.
- Define Priorities and monitor distribution of manpower accordingly.
- Provide solution to technical problems arising during work.
- Discuss availability of spare parts with Ship's Representatives and Ship Repair Coordinator.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receive work specifications from Mechanical Department Head and assist him to develop working program for repairs.
- Identify the work onboard with Ship Repair Project Manager, Superintendent and Ship's Staff discuss ways and methods for carrying out jobs, attend Class inspections and clear any arising points.
- Exercise overall supervision of the work relevant to Mechanical, Rudder & Propeller and Machining works.
- Schedules preparation for the assigned projects.
- To define priorities and organize distribution of men accordingly.
- Co-ordinate the work between trades to ensure maximum utilization of manpower.
- To ensure that ship Repair book properly the man-hours on the time cards
- Assist Supervisors to solve technical problems as and when required and instruct staff on procedures and tools to use. Whenever required, liaise with manufacturers specialists.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proven a minimum of 8+ years experience of running Mechanical Section within a Ship Repair establishment at Section Head Level.
