Job Scope:
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage the construction day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and performance in accordance to project specification and budget.
- Carry out inspections as well as resolving and monitoring structural and rectification works.
- Detailed planning from fabrication of materials, sub assembly and assembly of blocks, to installation and consolidation of Hull structure.
- Responsible for requisition of materials and to ensure they are carried out in accordance with the latest approved drawings.
- Supervise and monitor the progress of Structural fabrication and construction activities to ensure they are properly constructed to the approved design and specifications.
- Work and liaise with other trades to improvise construction sequencing works for systems and their supports, penetrations, equipment installations and interference checks/ studies for block integration and consolidation.
- Plan and establish work schedules and production sequence to meet project goals.
- Review technical drawings and advise Engineering of any discrepancies before commencement of any fabrication work.
- Have weekly schedule coordination meetings with all subcontractor foremen to outline requirements of work completion, and other issues as may be required including but not limited to manpower requirements, interference coordination, inspections, and sequence of work. Distribute three-week look ahead schedules and communicate schedule requirements with all subcontractors.
- Manage the structural construction team to ensure there is a consistent focus on a high level of detailed scope understanding and early issue identification, tracking and mitigation.
- Possess strong initiative around decision making and ability to conceptualize plans and technical solutions to deal with a wide array of standard and innovative construction issues.
- Implement, monitor, and drive the project schedule. Promptly notify management team of schedule and performance issues, be proactive in anticipating potential problems that may impact the project performance.
- Should possess strong knowledge and understanding of shipyard HSEQ regulations and rig building job certification requirements and ensure the same is communicated to the project team on a regular basis.
- Identify the work priorities, focus on the critical path, analyze the work problems in writing with own problem solving mentality, accurate supervision, decision-maker with a strong convincing personality, full readiness with 'Plan B' for any unexpected issues.
- Fully responsible for delivery of all Inspection Test Records (ITR’s) under the relevant discipline by effectively delegating to the foreman and chargehands. This must be approached with a high focus on interfacing and coordination with all other discipline supervision to remove all blocks from achieving target dates.
- Technical Engineering Qualification. (Diploma or equivalent)
- Bachelor Engineering Degree (preferred).
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in the English Language.
- For bachelor’s degree holder, at least 9-15 years of experience in shipyard and preferably involved in offshore activities and/or rig building.
- Diploma holders must have at least 15 years of experience in the same industry and related experience.
- Experienced in handling rig building related projects which are of high value and with technical complexities.
- Project management, time management and planning skills.
- Able to make appropriate decisions and judgments, decisive and take proper actions.
- Able to lead and manage new build rig construction projects.
- Able to coordinate and communicate with other internal & external stakeholders in new build projects.
- Knowledge of shipyard production trade activities.
- Strong Knowledge in Work pack development and system.
- Able to lead and manage the Toolbox Talks effectively.
- Able to build, encourage and lead a team.
