About the Opportunity
TRS Staffing Solutions is currently seeking a high-caliber Pipeline Engineer III for a direct-hire opportunity with our client's team of experienced professionals.
Our client, Campos EPC, is a leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm providing innovative solutions across the natural gas, pipeline, utility, and energy infrastructure markets. Known for delivering technically challenging projects and exceptional client service, Campos EPC partners with major energy operators throughout North America to design, develop, and execute critical infrastructure projects.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pipeline engineer to take a leadership role in the design and execution of natural gas transmission and high-pressure distribution projects while working alongside multidisciplinary teams and industry experts.
Position Summary
The Pipeline Engineer III will provide engineering leadership and technical expertise for the design, development, and execution of gas transmission and high-pressure distribution pipeline projects. This role will serve as a project engineer and technical lead, managing engineering activities from scope development through construction support and as-built documentation.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with clients, project managers, engineers, regulatory agencies, and construction teams to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective pipeline infrastructure solutions. This position also includes mentoring junior engineers and supporting business development and client relationship efforts.

Travel: Up to 25%
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering and design efforts for gas transmission and high-pressure distribution pipeline projects
- Serve as the project engineer and technical lead for assigned projects
- Manage engineering teams and coordinate multidisciplinary project activities
- Design launcher and receiver stations, including barrels and associated piping systems
- Develop pipeline replacement designs for make-piggable projects and integrity management programs
- Design hydrostatic testing programs to establish Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP)
- Perform engineering calculations including:
- Pipe sizing
- Valve sizing
- Hydraulic analysis
- Hydrostatic test design
- Assist with routing studies, feasibility evaluations, and FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) activities
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables including:
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Piping drawings
- Isometric fabrication drawings
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- General Arrangement drawings
- Coordinate engineering efforts with civil, structural, and EI&C disciplines
- Support permitting, license acquisition, and land rights requirements
- Interface with regulatory and permitting agencies as required
- Develop weld procedures and fabrication requirements for launcher and receiver installation projects
- Coordinate prefabricated assemblies with internal and external fabrication teams
- Ensure constructability considerations are incorporated into designs for rural, mountainous, and urban environments
- Provide field support during project development and construction activities
- Meet directly with clients and stakeholders to communicate project status, technical recommendations, and potential scope changes
- Assist with proposal development and Request for Proposal (RFP) responses
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams
- Apply project management principles to ensure successful project execution, schedule adherence, and quality deliverables
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in gas pipeline engineering and design
- Experience with natural gas transmission and high-pressure steel distribution pipeline projects
- Experience managing pipeline and integrity management (ILI) projects from scope development through construction and as-built completion
- Strong understanding of pipeline materials selection, constructability, and engineering best practices
- Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating multidisciplinary projects
- Strong client-facing communication and relationship management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Technical Requirements
Strong working knowledge of:
- Natural gas transmission systems
- High-pressure distribution pipeline design
- Pipeline integrity and make-piggable projects
- Launcher and receiver station design
- Hydraulic modeling and engineering calculations
- Hydrostatic testing methodologies
- Regulatory compliance and permitting requirements
- Pipeline construction techniques, including trenchless installation methods
- Mega Rule compliance requirements
Extensive knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including:
- ASME
- ANSI
- API
- NFPA
- CSA
- ASME B31.3
- ASME B31.4
- ASME B31.8
- 49 CFR Parts 192, 193, and 195
- NFPA 59A
Ability to prepare and review:
- PFDs
- P&IDs
- Piping drawings
- Isometric drawings
- Bills of Materials
- General Arrangement drawings
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year
- Experience working as a consulting engineer
- Experience in seconded engineering roles
- 3+ years of experience with plastic gas distribution pipeline design
- Basic proficiency with CAD software
- Experience supporting permitting and regulatory agency coordination
- Previous project engineering or project management experience
