Pay: $85,000 - $120,000
Summary: Our client is seeking an experienced piping engineer to take ownership of power plant pipe routing engineering decisions primarily related to stress, flexibility, and support. This person will work closely with our multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure that plant pipe routes are properly designed and supported.
Job Details:
• Take ownership of piping specification documents and collaborate on future changes
• Interpret Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to verify that piping has been routed correctly in 3D, according to piping specifications and governing codes such as ASME B31.1
• Lead pipe stress analysis software operation and administration
• Use pipe stress analysis software such as CAESAR II to validate pipe route designs and specify support requirements, reporting results as controlled design documents
• Make pipe support decisions and instruct piping designers where changes are needed
• Design custom piping supports where standard designs are insufficient
• Communicate load information with Structural Engineer
• Work with Process Engineering to update piping head loss information
• Review piping isometric drawings for quality and standards
• Provide and maintain piping Bills of Materials (BOM) or Material Take-Offs (MTO)
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
• 5+ years applicable experience in plant piping engineering for process or power
• Familiarity with steam piping systems is a requirement
• Proficiency with pipe stress analysis software such as CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, or similar
Preferred Experience:
• Familiarity with power plant piping is preferred
• Specific experience with ASME B31.1 BEP and NBEP is strongly preferred
• Familiarity with 3D plant modeling software such as Plant 3D, Revit, AVEVA E3D is preferred
• Professional Engineering (PE) certification is preferred but not required
