Key Responsibilities:
- To supervise and oversee daily plant chemistry operation performed in order to ensure that chemistry targets are achieved safely, efficiently and within the company rules and procedures, OEM guidelines, legal, environmental, contractual and other requirements.
- Assist in development of the short- and long-term chemistry strategy for the plant.
- Assist to establish the appropriate procedures and computerized maintenance management processes as applicable to a prudent chemistry management, in particular the permit to work system.
- Understands and master's the plant emergency handling procedures.
- Participates in the plant training and qualification program.
- Participates in the plant training and qualification program.
- Ensure control of the chemistry through the plant distributed control system (DCS) and laboratory sampling plan.
- Supervises plant chemicals handling and storage.
- Identifies problems with plant equipment and clearly communicates the conditions associated with these problems to the plant maintenance team.
- Develops KPI in line with the business plan.
- Maintaining high standards of management, ethics and leadership.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- An accredited chemical engineering/chemistry degree.
- Demonstrated competence at engineering level supported by relevant education and training At least 4 - 6 year experience in the chemistry of a large power and water plant, 3 of which should preferably be in the capacity of a chemist.
- Engineering concepts and principles.
- Interaction with purchasing, finance and accounting, maintenance, administration and HR.
- Budget control and reporting.
- Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders.
