Senior Project Engineer

Location: Alberta (occasional travel required)
Industry: Engineering / Energy / Manufacturing

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead and manage engineering projects from initiation through to completion. This role is responsible for defining project objectives, monitoring KPIs, and ensuring successful delivery across safety, quality, schedule, and cost parameters.

You will act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and delivered while coordinating across internal and external technical teams.


Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Technical Oversight

  • Lead project execution in alignment with health & safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets
  • Ensure compliance with government, industry, and regulatory standards
  • Review client specifications and ensure requirements are translated into engineering deliverables
  • Oversee engineering outputs, ensuring quality and integrity of designs (including P.Eng stamping where required)

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the main client interface throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead project meetings and prepare required client reports
  • Manage client expectations and handle change orders and project documentation

Coordination & Collaboration

  • Work closely with procurement, quality, manufacturing, and technical teams
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables and vendor drawings
  • Support bid preparation through technical specification review

Project Controls & Delivery

  • Track timelines, budgets, and KPIs to ensure successful delivery
  • Issue purchase requisitions and support procurement activities
  • Incorporate lessons learned into ongoing and future projects
  • Ensure all deliverables are completed on time and within budget

Mentorship & Continuous Improvement

  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to continuous process and engineering improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Professional designation required: P.Eng, P.L.Eng, or P.Tech (Alberta)
  • Minimum 8+ years of project engineering experience, preferably in gas processing, oil & gas, or manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of ASME, ANSI, and API codes
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar CAD tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Field or plant experience in industrial/oil & gas environments is an asset
  • Strong communication skills with ability to manage clients and cross-functional teams

Work Environment

  • Office-based role with occasional site/shop visits (PPE required)
  • Periodic travel within Alberta
  • Collaborative, team-oriented environment
