Job Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Cost Estimation: Quantity surveyors estimate costs related to materials, labor, and other project expenses.
- Budget Management: They create projected budgets and ensure that building projects stay within budget constraints.
- Contractual Advice: Quantity surveyors provide advice to contractors on legal and contractual matters.
- Progress Monitoring: They oversee project progress, verify executed work, and report to clients or stakeholders.
- Expense Minimization: Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, they aim to minimize expenses and secure the best deals.
- Collaboration: Quantity surveyors work closely with site managers, clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Record Keeping: They maintain accurate project records, prepare reports, and track expenses.
- Pricing/forecasting the cost of the different components needed for a project.
- Tracking changes to the design and/or construction work and adjusting budget projections in line with these.
- Sourcing contractors and/or subcontractors to work on the construction stage of the project.
- Measuring and valuing the work done on site.
- Supporting Contract Administrator
- Liaising with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers and site engineers.
- Evaluating Change request from Subcontractors
Qualification and Skills Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or Business law or equivalent experience.
- Verify site measurements for installed quantities, measure drawings, isometrics and B.O.Q's, verify and approve monthly progress certificates, check physical progress of executed work, mark up relevant drawings as required, verify correct application of contractual rates, estimating if required, calculation of new rates, escalation indices, general support to Contract Management and Construction.
- FIDIC, NEC, Methods of Measurements-various disciplines, Experience in Steel Mill projects required.
