Role Overview
The Reliability Manager (ROI Champion) is accountable for driving the success of the Reliability Optimization Initiative (ROI) by embedding reliability-driven performance and financial discipline into day-to-day operations.
This role will initially support facilities and expand to support client's Continuous Site Presence (CSP) model across the broader Vistra fleet—ensuring consistent delivery of measurable reliability, operational, and financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead deployment and sustainment of the Reliability Optimization Initiative (ROI) across priority sites, with scale across the fleet
• Serve as the primary interface between site execution and leadership, providing visibility into ROI performance, risks, and improvement opportunities
• Identify and mitigate performance gaps, ROI drift, and control breakdowns impacting reliability, cost, and production
• Drive integration across reliability engineering, planning & scheduling, and maintenance execution to deliver measurable business impact
• Establish and standardize ROI performance metrics, dashboards, and leading indicators aligned to fleet objectives
• Provide functional leadership and execution direction to site-based reliability engineers and cross-functional teams
• Apply Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste, improve process efficiency, and enhance maintenance effectiveness
• Support and reinforce Continuous Site Presence (CSP) through consistent application of best practices across locations
• Partner with operations and maintenance leadership to build a culture of accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement
• Demonstrate client's value as a strategic partner by delivering measurable performance, efficiency, and financial outcomes
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience (typically 10–15+ years) in reliability, maintenance, or plant operations within power generation or heavy industry
• Proven track record of delivering measurable improvements in asset performance, uptime, and cost efficiency
• Demonstrated technical expertise combined with strong communication capability, with the ability to engage both site personnel and executive leadership
• Strong working knowledge of:
o Reliability methodologies (RCM, FMEA, RCFA)
o Work process control (WPC) and planning & scheduling best practices
o Maintenance and reliability performance metrics and KPIs
o Lean principles and continuous improvement practices
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) and/or Certified Reliability Leader (CRL)
• Lean Green Belt (or higher) or equivalent structured continuous improvement experience
• Experience supporting multi-site or fleet-level performance improvement initiatives
Leadership Profile
• Ability to influence across sites and functions without direct authority
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate reliability actions into financial impact (EBITDA-focused)
• High accountability with a bias for action and results
• Strong advocate of Lean thinking and continuous improvement culture
• Effective communicator capable of engaging across all organizational levels
Success Measures
• Sustained improvement in reliability-driven financial performance (ROI impact)
• Reduction in unplanned downtime and maintenance variability
• Increased discipline and consistency in planning, scheduling, and execution
• Demonstrated application of Lean principles to drive efficiency and eliminate waste
• Standardized and visible ROI performance management across sites and expanding CSP footprint
