Our Partner, a leading steel manufacturing company, is seeking a Risk Coordinator / Senior Project Controls Engineer to join their growing team in Pueblo, Colorado. This long-term contract position will support the team by leading the overall risk management process from planning through implementation phases of the project.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

• Plan, design and implement overall project risk management
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance involving external risk reporting to stakeholders
• Evaluate past risk management practices, establish and quantify the level of risk deemed acceptable to the company and its stakeholders
• Inform business heads of risks relevant to their parts of the business to understand their accountability for individual risks criteria established by the organization
• Design, prepare and distribute risk reporting tailored to various project stakeholders (project steering committee, business leaders, etc.), ensure reporting conveys the most significant risks and clearly outline stakeholder risk criteria such as: costs, legal requirements, environmental factors and insurance
• Track all project issues as they relate to the risk register and mitigation efforts
• Interface with project team and contractors to identify, assess and mitigate risks on the project and track mitigation efforts until risk level is acceptable
• Review contracts and purchase orders from a risk perspective for all owner contracts, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) purchases and services agreements
• Participate in change control process and maintenance of project baselines and reporting
• Develop and/or implement project risk procedures as needed and support implementation of project control requirements for contractors, suppliers and owner’s team
• Lead/support efforts to identify and mitigate risks associated with suppliers and contractors and participate in claims development and processing
• Evaluate potential risk impacts of proposed change requests from suppliers and contractors and project execution changes
• Provide weekly/monthly status reports to project management and corporate
• Assist with project controls functions as required to support the project
• Perform additional assignments at direction of site project leadership

Requirements:

• BS/BA degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business or equivalent field experience
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in project controls with a background in both cost and schedule, preferably with large industrial projects
• Hands-on proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point and Access as well as experience with Primavera Project Planner (P6) and MS Project, required; additional experience with databases an asset
• Experience and demonstrated understanding of concepts and products developed for project management of engineer, plan, construct (EPC) projects, i.e.: risk register, change management, resource charts, PERT charts, Gantt charts, concepts of float, schedule status, revisions, budgets, committed and actual costs, forecasts, etc.
• Must have experience working with project teams in the development and maintenance of risk register, contractor generated baseline schedules, time impact analyses, cost status and reporting, and earned value management reporting
• Familiar with how project and supplier work-scopes are sequenced, constructed and commissioned
• Ability to consolidate independently generated project data effectively with cross-functional teams
• Excellent team player, strong ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees and members of management
