SUMMARY:
The Senior Operational Geologist monitors our individual wells or groups of wells located in the Rockies to ensure that they are producing (or, in the case of injection wells, injecting) optimally.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work will primarily revolve around managing the directional drilling of horizontal wells in the Northern DJ.
• Expectation is for geologist to remotely manage all geologic and geosteering aspects of a 1 rig program. When actively drilling, long hours and night and weekend work will be required
• 24 hours well monitoring will be expected.
• Experience with landing horizontal wells and keeping laterals 100% in-zone is a must
• Prior experience in the DJ Basin is strongly preferred
• During the interview a skill-based test will be administered. It will require working knowledge of DJ basin stratigraphy and correlation.
• Additional responsibilities will include oversite and planning of horizontal development in the Northern DJ along with mapping of relevant information as directed.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 4-year geology or geophysics or engineering degree 2-7 years of experience
• DJ basin geology and drilling experience
• Capability to work long hours at irregular intervals including nights, weekends, and holidays to prevent going out of zone on wells
• Mapping and planning of development locations
• Ability to work collaboratively in a high-intensity environment
• Strong proficiency in Petra
• Management of drilling process for landings and lateral placement in Codell Sand
• Mapping of targets and preparation/planning of development wells
• Completing studies as directed by executive management
