We are looking for a Setting Out Engineer to join our team, working for a leading EPC based in East Lothian.
  • Initial 12 month contract
  • Site Based
  • Outside IR35
The Setting Out Engineer will support the accurate setting out and levelling of site assets in accordance with AFC designs. Working with the Construction Manager they will be responsible for inputting into installation methodologies, reviewing contractor installations in accordance with approved designs and providing survey and setting out activities during execution, snagging and handover.

Key responsibilities, accountabilities, and decision ownership:
  • Supervise the technical installation of assets, ensuring they are done in accordance with the approved designs.
  • Develop installation methodology in conjunction with the construction team, and document within detailed work method statements.
  • Interpret and implement construction plans and specifications.
  • Perform precise setting out and levelling of the site for earthworks and civil asset installation.
  • Conduct site surveys and measurements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other engineers.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities and measurements.
  • Report on progress through to the project controls team.
  • Identification and control of construction and engineering design change.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
  • Minimum 3yrs experience within a Civil Engineering discipline.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and efficient manner.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable county, province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
  • Accredited degree or global equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Fluent in English Language.
  • Knowledge and experience of AutoCAD &/or Revit
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Desirable: Experience in delivering power or transmission infrastructure projects, or projects within a heavily regulated environment.
  • Desirable: Experience in survey techniques and the use of Total Stations
  • Desirable: Experience working with BIM models
