Education: Diploma/Draughtsman ship in Electrical/Instrumentation
Experience: 10+ years in Oil & Gas Projects
Purpose of the position and short description:
The Electrical Designer is responsible for producing accurate electrical design and drafting deliverables for engineering projects. The role supports engineers by preparing drawings, 2D and 3D models, cable routing information, and material documentation. The work must comply with project requirements, industry standards, and coordination needs across all engineering disciplines during FEED and detailed engineering phases.
Description of main activities:
• Preparing electrical drawings including SLDs, wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment layouts, lighting layouts, earthing layouts, and cable routing layouts.
• Developing 2D and 3D models for electrical equipment, cable trays, raceways, and routing using approved CAD Software (AutoCAD, BricsCAD, E3D, SP3D etc.)
• Creating cable schedules and drum schedules and assisting engineers with cable sizing and voltage-drop checks.
• Preparing Material Take-Offs, Bills of Materials, and inputs for bulk material requisitions.
• Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to avoid clashes and ensure consistent design integration.
• Ensuring that all drawings, models, and documents meet applicable standards, project specifications, and quality procedures.
• Participating in model reviews and providing design support during engineering and construction phases.
• Supporting site and construction teams with design clarifications and preparation of as-built documentation when required.
Skills and knowledge:
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or BricsCAD
• Proficiency in 3D modelling tools like E3D, SP3D
• Proficiency in Smart Plant Electrical or Instrumentation is an advantage.
• Familiarity with lighting calculation tools like Dialux is an advantage.
• solid understanding of electrical design concepts including power distribution, lighting, earthing and grounding, and cable routing.
• Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards such as IEC, EN, and hazardous-area requirements.
• Ability to prepare, interpret, and review electrical drawings and support technical documents.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with good command of written and spoken English.
• Self-motivation, team spirit and assertiveness.
• Strong coordination and communication skills for interfacing with multidisciplinary teams.
