Client is looking for Stationary Mechanical Engineer
Project Type: Brownfield | EPC | PMC | Petrochemical Plant | Turnaround (TA) | Furnaces
Location: Jubail, Saudi Arabia

Requirements/Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 13+ years of experience in stationary/mechanical equipment within ethylene/petrochemical plants
  • Prior Saudi Arabia project experience is a MUST
  • Proven expertise in brownfield projects, furnace-related mechanical scopes, and equipment modifications
  • Strong knowledge of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, reactors, columns/towers, heaters/furnaces, storage tanks, and associated piping interfaces
  • Familiarity with DCS/ESD systems and plant turnaround (TA) activities
  • Deep understanding of codes and standards: ASME Section VIII & IX, API 510/570/579/660/661/650, TEMA, NBIC, NACE
  • Competence in mechanical design calculations, fitness-for-service (FFS), remaining life assessment, repair methods, WPS/PQR, NDE
  • Strong HSE mindset and permit-to-work knowledge for live-plant interventions

Responsibilities:
  • Manage brownfield mechanical scope for stationary equipment in operating ethylene/petrochemical plants, coordinating closely with Piping, Process, Civil, E&I, and Construction teams
  • Oversee furnace/mechanical scopes: radiant/convection section components, tube/coil supports, expansion, refractory/insulation repairs, burners, seals, and stack interfaces
  • Execute equipment upgrades and modifications, including:
  • CGC (Cracked Gas Compressor) auxiliaries: coolers, lube oil systems, seal systems, filters/strainers, knock-out drums
  • Pump systems: baseplate grout, API seal plans, piping nozzle loads, alignment, reliability improvements
  • Columns/Towers: trays/packing changes, internals replacement, demister upgrades, reboiler interfaces, nozzles/additional manways
  • Heat Exchangers: bundle replacement, tube-sheet/bonnet repairs, fouling mitigation, TEMA compliance
  • Pressure Vessels: nozzles, clips/lugs, reinforcement pads, re-rating, hot/cold taps (with integrity controls)
  • Develop and approve mechanical deliverables: datasheets, specifications, GA drawings, fabrication drawings, MTOs, welding/NDE plans, repair procedures, and TA job packs
  • Perform FFS and integrity assessments (API 579) and define repair/mitigation strategies (cladding/overlay, insert plates, sleeve repairs, PWHT, stress-relief)
  • Lead turnaround (TA) execution: inspection plans, isolation/blinding, disassembly/reassembly, alignment, pressure testing, leak testing, reinstatement, and commissioning support
  • Plan systemization and hydrotest boundaries, define pressure test requirements, and ensure proper pre-commissioning/turnover documentation
  • Conduct site surveys/as-builts, clash/constructability reviews, and ensure safe SIMOPS in congested areas
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi regulations, company standards, and HSE protocols; facilitate risk assessments (HIRA/JSA) and lift/rigging plans for heavy components
  • Manage vendors and fabricators: review shop drawings, WPS/PQR, FAT/SAT, field assistance, and QA/QC of installation and documentation
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting for mechanical reliability issues (vibration, fouling, thermal expansion, leak paths) and drive root cause analysis with corrective actions
