Engineering company is seeking a Senior IT Operations Specialist for a long-term contract role (12 months+). This is a remote position.

Summary
This position is primarily involved in work in the computer field performing systems analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, or modification of computer systems or programs. The position exercises discretion and judgment.

Scope
The Senior Specialist is highly knowledgeable within the designated Information Technology (IT) area of responsibility and applies that knowledge toward broad and diverse assignments. This role plans and coordinates activities related to the design, development, implementation, and integration of IT solutions.

The Senior Specialist analyzes, evaluates, and proposes recommendations for innovative solutions.

The Senior Specialist applies proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems. This position may lead and guide other IT staff.

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities                      
  • Provide ideas and methodology improvement recommendations to regional management.
  • Act as liaison among project personnel and IT groups to deliver appropriate IT Infrastructure, equipment, and services to projects.
  • Maintain technical expertise and awareness of emerging technologies.
  • Provide production support for critical enterprise applications and environments at agreed service levels; participate in the incident management and problem management processes as a resolver accountable for resolution, root cause analysis,
  • Reporting including Oracle and Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) related issues; ensure that all production changes are processed according to established change management policies and procedures.
  • Lead the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT solutions.
  • Execute IT projects, including conceptualizing, organizing, planning, anticipating project needs.
  • Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT solutions within designated area.
  • May negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
  • Perform or advise with problem analysis, structured analysis, and solution design techniques.
  • Develop and ensure business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of IT trends, technologies, and strategies for potential impact and advantages to the business.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes in procedures when necessary.
  • Educate customers on IT standards and procedures and gain customer understanding of those standards.
  • Actively participate in processes improvement activities
  • Function as an expert and consults on critical business needs.
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.
  • Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
  • Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job.
Typical Minimum Qualifications - Related Education, Experience & Skills
  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and ten (10)
  • years* of work-related experience or a combination of education and related.
  • experience equal to fourteen (14) years* if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications to comply with local requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
Infrastructure Management
  • Provide ideas and methodology improvement recommendations to regional management.

Preferred Qualifications - Related Education, Experience & Skills
  • Accredited degree or global equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • May require Certified Network Engineer (CNE or CNE/NT) or Certified Network Administrator (CNA) credentials or other applicable certifications.
  • Seven (7) years of Information Technology (IT) related experience in one or more of the following areas: data communications engineering, data and/or voice communications, hardware or software analysis, network administration, or management or data and/or voice communications equipment installation and maintenance.
  • Effectively adapts to rapidly changing technology and applies it to business needs.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Demonstrated strong technical and non-technical communication and presentation skills in both oral and written formats
