TRS Staffing Solutions has exciting opportunities for a Building Design Specialist role to work for one of Canada's top employers and a global leader in the Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in 3D model coordination reviews and develop models of moderate complexity using industry-standard tools
- Apply project drafting standards to both 2D drawings and 3D layouts
- Produce 2D CAD drawings with strong attention to accuracy and detail
- Support design development through modeling and layout activities for architectural and building systems projects
- Assist in developing and reviewing project documentation, including scope definitions and design basis materials
- Support estimation, scheduling, progress reporting, and quantity tracking efforts
- Perform material take-offs and quantity tabulations
- Review discipline-specific drawings and vendor documentation for compliance; identify and help resolve discrepancies
- Coordinate closely with other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions
- Apply applicable industry codes, standards, and internal procedures
- Integrate health, safety, and environmental considerations into all design work
- Participate in knowledge sharing and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Support team development and, where applicable, mentor junior team members
- Deliver work that meets established quality standards, project requirements, and internal processes
Key Requirements
- Combination of education and relevant experience totaling approximately 6 years
- Practical to advanced experience using Revit for building design and modeling
- Working knowledge of design principles and technical requirements related to building and architectural projects
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, vendors, and stakeholders
- Ability to learn and apply applicable regulations, codes, and industry standards
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with material specifications, sourcing, and cost considerations is an asset
- Field or site experience supporting construction or design implementation is an asset
- Proficiency in standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations)
- Comfortable working in office, hybrid, or occasional site-based environments
