Main Task & Responsibility:
Assist the Foreman Mechanical Winders in all surface areas and maintenance on Winders. Ensure safe and effective operation of the shaft winder for the haulage of ore, persons and materials during a shift. Coordinate shaft schedules and working registers of personnel in terms of BRMO policy.
Minimum Qualifications (Essential unless otherwise indicated):
Grade 12
N3 Certificate (Engineering studies)
Certificate Trade Test Fitter
Certificate Winder and Ropes
Experience And Requirements (Essential unless otherwise indicated):
Computer literate (Microsoft Office, JDE, Qlikview and Isometrix)
3 Years Post apprenticeship as Fitter in heavy industrial, winder, mining and plant environment
1 Year Supervisory experience
Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence
Must achieved A or B symbol on the Dover Assessment
Knowledge and Skills (Essential unless otherwise indicated):
Perform asset care activities as required to EAMS system including accurate and timeouts feedback and documentation to all stakeholders
Assist the Plant Foreman with daily inspection checklists for tools, equipment and work areas
Report problems and make recommendations to Plant Foreman
Obtain information, check for accuracy and capture data
File documents per procedure
Participate in planning process for section
Execute plans within standard
Ensure to get a schedule of all breakdowns on a daily basis
Ensure planning on job cards are executed daily with regards to weekly maintenance planning
Ensure to generate orders with regards to any breakdowns or maintenance reported
Perform safety talks, production updates, indabas and environmental talks
Know and exercise the basic principles of safety and mining
Comply with safety, health and environmental standards
Identify and report unsafe and hazardous situations in work area
Participate in safety meetings
Take care of your own safety and the safety of fellow employees
Comply with Quality standards and deliver in a manner that support and meet operational quality standards
Contribute to team performance
Propose ideas or practical improvements relevant to tasks. Participate in improvement initiatives
Maintain legal registers
Perform daily safety checks on machinery and equipment and report deviations
Comply with disciplinary and behavioural rules and procedures
Participate in change initiatives and provide feedback on resistance
Ensure safe and effective operation of the shaft winder for the haulage of ore, persons and materials during a shift
Participate in planning process for section. Execute plans within standard
Ensure working according to regulation 16 of the mine and mineral act. This includes daily inspections, overwinds, under winds etc.
Ensure the cabin of the winding machine is clean and tidy at all times according to BRMO standards and the bank / station and shaft area
Ensure to report any defaults/malfunctions of the winder immediately to supervisor
Ensure to coordinate the shaft schedules in terms of BRMO procedure
Ensure to coordinate the working schedule of all personnel in the shaft area. The candidate will be appointed on the condition of being certified medically fit as per Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996
Preference will be given to applicants from previously disadvantaged groups to support the company’s Employment Equity plan
Remuneration:
Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package. The successful candidate that conforms to all said requirements and experience will be appointed on this grading. A candidate that does not conform to all set requirements and experience will be considered only if a suitable candidate that does comply cannot be selected and only if the requirements of the position support a developmental appointment according to policy
