The South Flank Project is being executed by a fully Integrated Project Team (IPT), jointly established by BHP and Fluor, consisting of employees from both organisations as well as other contracting organisations as applicable. The BHP Charter Values will underpin the success of the IPT and South Flank Project, creating a culture which promotes trust, team engagement and productivity.

The project has an exciting opportunity for Operational Readiness Supervisor, to join the project team on site, on a 15/6 roster.

Position specific responsibilities and requirements:

Responsible for health and safety requirements including JHA’s, permits to work, isolations, risk assessments, site inspections, and key safety deliverables, to ensure high quality work and safety is adhered to at all times.
Support the implementation of a strong reporting culture with Contractors, ensuring HSE issues are managed, reported, mitigated/rectified and closed out.
Responsible for progress monitoring of schedule and activity tracking for day-works.
Responsible for overseeing and managing site crew and sub-contractors.
Identify, report and record and non-conformances, incidents or near misses.
Responsible for monitoring Contractor execution works and verification of construction methodologies, strategies and plans in accordance within project construction systems and standards.
Responsible for preparation and submission of daily reports for work undertaken, including escalation of safety issues and investigation requirements for HSE events.
Responsible for authorisation of all contractor Permits to Work.
Responsible for verification of JHAs.
Monitor contractor progress and manning/equipment levels as per agreed plan and in particular the critical path. Ensure schedule slippage is monitored and mitigation options developed with the Superintendents.
Oversight of interfaces in works areas adjacent to Project activity area.
Work closely with Civil Superintendents to monitor contractor performance and manage interfaces of works in adjacent areas.
Position required competencies and skills:

Strong Contractor Management experience required and in-depth understanding of HSE construction requirements including workplace HSE and quality inspections, mobilisation plans, risk assessments, JHAs, establishment of a strong reporting culture, proactive safety management, KPI adherence and Field Leadership.
Strong drainage experience using CSP culverts (and a bonus if they have experience constructing rock drains).
Strong road sealing experience.
Demonstrated knowledge on gorges and how to access the floors safely (i.e. geo-hazard identification, working with steep gradients etc.)
Technical knowledge of Construction, Building and Civils processes.
Positive attitude and proactive approach to change.
Experience in Cyclone Season preparation.
Leads by example and demonstrates behaviours consistent with BHP Core values.
Position required qualifications:

Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role within the Mining/Civil Construction sector or on projects involving bulk earthworks.
Strong drainage experience.
Strong road sealing experience.
