We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Engineer on a long-term basis within our client’s team of experienced EPC professionals. Based in Los Angeles, CA 90045
Summary
This position performs work requiring advanced knowledge which is predominantly intellectual in character, and which routinely exercises discretion and judgment. The advanced knowledge is in a field of science or learning and gained through a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction, experience, and expertise acquired in the field.
Scope
Support the construction efforts by providing technical support to craft and supervision as well as helping to satisfy quality requirements on the project. Initiate action when necessary to ensure the project is being built as specified in the scope of work.
Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard construction engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using solid engineering judgment in making decisions
- Perform work involving conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively complex features for which precedents exist
- Supervise or coordinate the work of engineers, technicians, and other personnel who provide assistance on specific assignments
- Remain knowledgeable of requirements for applicable codes and standards on a project
- Manage the site survey
- Assist craftsmen, foremen, and project supervision with regard to construction-related issues identified on drawings
- Coordinate system completion and turnover with regard to start up activities for assigned systems
- Prepare field material take-offs as well as initiate and prepare requisitions for the procurement of services, materials, and equipment necessary to support the project schedule
- Coordinate the completion of construction activities in assigned systems and prepares punch lists to ensure the readiness of systems for release for turnover to the client or for start up
- Schedule and coordinate the release of construction design documents in support of the construction schedule
- Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures and global standards
- Adhere to and support our client’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
- Coordinate the preparation and revision of technical work procedures consistent with project design and construction requirements
- Prepare and conduct training of assigned engineers
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
- Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
- Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff
- Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
- Adhere to and support our client’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
- Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job
- May need to travel to attend to business related matters
- Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality
- Other duties as assigned
Typical Minimum Qualifications - Related Education, Experience & Skills
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and six (6) years* of work-related experience; a recognized certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- Construction Management degree or global equivalent
- Typically has four (4) years of project experience
- Ability to speak/read multiple languages
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Basic or intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the basic or intermediate use of spreadsheets

Salary range: $85K - $100K/yr.
