We are seeking a Control & Instrumentation Specialist to provide technical leadership and consulting expertise on mining and metals projects. This role operates squarely within the engineering advisory and EPCM delivery model, with a strong emphasis on design governance, system integration, and technical assurance rather than construction supervision. The role ensures that automation, control, and instrumentation solutions are technically sound, aligned with project objectives, compliant with applicable standards, and fully integrated with process, mechanical, and electrical designs.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for control systems and instrumentation engineering across mining and minerals processing projects.
  • Define and review control system architectures, instrumentation philosophies, and automation strategies.
  • Lead the development and review of key deliverables including:
    • Control philosophies and functional specifications.
    • Instrument datasheets and specifications.
    • PLC, DCS, and SCADA system designs.
    • Network and communication architectures.
    • I/O lists, loop diagrams, and cause‑and‑effect charts.
  • Ensure technical integrity, safety, operability, maintainability, and regulatory compliance of all control and instrumentation designs.
  • Coordinate closely with process, mechanical, electrical, and civil/structural disciplines to ensure integrated plant design.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and systems integrators to align expectations and resolve technical issues.
  • Support equipment procurement through technical evaluations and review of vendor documentation.
  • Drive value‑engineering and fit‑for‑purpose automation solutions that balance functionality, cost, and lifecycle performance.
  • Monitor engineering progress against scope, schedule, and man‑hour targets and support change management activities.

Qualifications And Skills Requirements:
  • Accredited four‑year degree (or global equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 12+ years’ experience in control and instrumentation engineering within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working within engineering consulting or EPCM project environments.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems including PLC, DCS, SCADA, field instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.
  • Solid understanding of applicable electrical, instrumentation, and control standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with hazardous area classification and Ex‑rated instrumentation (advantageous).
  • Professional registration or eligibility for registration, as applicable by location.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to perform effectively in complex, time‑critical project environments.
