Our client is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Design Manager to join their dynamic, growing team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the overall project delivery in accordance with Company, Client and industry requirements. This position is based in Cape Town.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interdisciplinary co-ordination of technical aspects of the project engineering, design and drafting.
- Monitoring the progress and performance of the project design team, giving input and providing feedback and support where necessary.
- Coordinating the multi-discipline engineering and design & draughting resources assigned to allocated tasks, to achieve agreed deliverable with the scheduled dates and allocated man-hour budgets.
- Consistently providing engineering designs and solutions within agreed milestone dates and to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
- Approve, guide and review engineering designs, including calculations & design development.
- Ensure associated engineering and design procedures are adhered to including, but not limited to, calculation checking, design reviews and change management.
- Maximise the productivity and efficiency of the study and project teams by planning, scheduling, appropriate allocation of resources and ensuring collaborative teamwork to ensure deliverables are met.
- Contribute to engineers-in-training professional development by providing consistent mentoring and identify avenues of development.
- Develop and contribute to the delivery of improvement initiatives which support business priorities for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Tertiary level qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or equivalent).
- 15+ years’ experience in mineral processing or related industries.
- Experience in gold will be considered favorably.
- Professional Registration (ECSA or equivalent).
- Extensive understanding of studies, projects and detailed design execution, mine operation challenges and requirements, and risk management process.
