Major Duties and Responsibilities
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist provides high-level environmental, health and safety support to the Manufacturing environment.
- Provide leadership and direction to plan, develop, administer and manage organization safety policies, programs and training with respect to “ON” / “OFF” site emergency preparedness
- Identify recurring problems; research, evaluate, and recommend changes to technology, equipment, systems, or processes that will improve the organization's H&S performance as well mitigate any kind of risk
- Provide the business with strategic, pragmatic solutions through innovation, new concepts, continuous improvement and self-challenge to drive the plant to a fully embraced and secure environmental culture
- Collate and analyze health and safety data pertaining to the system performance in order to ensure continual improvement at all times
- Maintain cordial relationship with employees on matters pertaining to safety practices and legislation
- Plans, develops and manages company policies for adhering to local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations as well as quality requirements.
- Designs and develops facilities, work areas and work procedures including leading all 5S initiatives, job hazardous analysis, work area layouts, ergonomic work evaluations, etc.
- Prepare and update environmental, health and safety policies, manuals and training.
- Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations particularly SDS, HAZMAT and OSHA, owns associated audits
- Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
- Responsible for resolving escalated issues arising from operations or safety concerns and requiring coordination with other departments.
- Ensures all Team Members and new Team Members completes Annual Compliance Training.
- Conducts accident investigation and safety tours.
- Ensures Environmental ISO14001 compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, or other related field preferred
- 3 years related safety experience (or) Associate’s degree in occupational health, safety, or other related field
- 5 years related safety experience
- Experience leading 5S initiatives, job hazard analyses, work area layouts, etc. (Preferred)
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Plant start-up experience
- Able to successfully pass a background check and dreg screen
