Engine Room Operator

Assist with the control and supervision for a twelve-hour shift period of vessel services and backup power generation.

• Operate & Maintain Steam Generation Plant (Deck Boiler) for production.
• Monitor & Control Nalco BFW program
• Provision of control air for all instrumentation, general service air, diesel oil supply and domestic water/sanitary systems.
• Water for vessel main and emergency Fire and foam system.
• Provide electrical power from back-up diesel-driven generation.
• Air conditioning for accommodation and working areas.
• Operation of galley refrigeration plant
• Assist as required with any vessel operational & maintenance requirements
• Maintain logs and records on operational & maintenance activities.

Person must:

• Conduct first line maintenance on equipment
• Experience with CMMS (material record database software such as JDE and /or IPES-SAP)
• Basic computing skills and familiarity with Microsoft software
• Provides onsite mentoring and tutoring for the National Technicians. They are responsible to ensure their success in accomplishing the completion of the tasks required by the program within the time frame allotted.
Minimum qualifications to be considered are:
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in oil industry in either operations or maintenance or equivalent fields.
• Completion of secondary education (12 years) plus 2 years trade mechanical, operational or equivalent training formal or on job.
• Will hold a valid medical certificate, Firefighting certificate, first aid and personnel survival at sea.
• Good communication skills are essential and the operator must be fluent in mathematics plus spoken and written English. The ability to produce simple written reports is essential.
• Fluent in written and spoken English
