Location: Augusta, GA 30906
Industry: complex processes (industrial metals refining, processing)
Status of Hire: full-time, direct hire
Pay: $130-175k base plus up to 15% annual bonus (depending on experience)
Reports to: Engineering Director
Key Interfaces: GC, process design team, internal PMO, commissioning & start-up, risk & safety, construction, procurement, financial control, corporate process engineering team

Overall Objective:
As a Engineering Design Manager you will oversee the design process of construction projects from inception to completion. You will be responsible for ensuring that all design requirements are met and that the design is practical and cost-effective, and that it meets our needs. The Engineering Design Manager will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate a design review process, ensuring that drawing packages meet internal requirements and are issued for construction in a timely manner. The Engineering Design Manager will be responsible for coordinating between engineering firm, project engineers, project management office and contractors to ensure that the centralized drawings repository is up to date and drawing logs reflect the latest status of each drawing package
Responsibilities:
Oversee the design process for construction projects, ensuring that all design requirements are met and that the design is practical and cost-effective
Coordinate between internal project engineers, engineering firms, the project team and contractors to ensure that drawings packages are delivered to the field in time to meet the construction schedule
Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the design meets all regulatory and safety requirements and is delivered on time and within budget
Facilitate a design review process to ensure that drawing packages meet internal and project requirements before being issued for construction
Ensure that all drawing packages are tracked in a central repository and log, including status of each drawing and logs of all drawing revisions
Provide technical advice and guidance to the design team as required
Review and coordinate all design work to ensure that it is of the required standard and meets all relevant regulations, permit requirement, and safety standards
Manage the resolution of any design-related issues that arise during the project, including changes to the design, scope, or budget
Develop and maintain project schedules for design deliverables in coordination with the PMO Scheduler and ensure that they are completed on time
Support Field Engineers in coordinating with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that the design is implemented as planned
Provide regular reports on the progress of the design work to project managers and other stakeholders
Ensure that all design-related documentation is completed accurately and on time
Experience/Education Requirements:
10+ years of multi-disciplinary design management experience in construction, with a proven track record of success in managing complex design projects from inception to completion
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and Professional Engineering License
Excellent knowledge of design principles, practices, and procedures
Knowledge of design software and tools, including AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other design software
Strong project and management skills, with the ability to manage and effectively
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
Highly organized and attentive to detail
Strong critical and analytical thinking and quantitative skills
Comfort with fast-paced, quickly changing environment
**Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer, regardless of authorization or visa transfer
