An exciting Energy consortium are recruiting for an Environmental Director to join their team and work on a refinery project in France. The Environmental Consultant/Director must have previous experience working on refinery projects and speak fluent French.

Primary Functions/Responsibilities of the Environmental Consultant/Director:
  • Responsible for oversight of environmental programs to ensure and verify compliance with government regulations and company standards.
  • Have the ability to provide direction and technical support to environmental staff to ensure refinery compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Monitor potential new legislation that may affect operations: Direct staff to analyze potential and pending legislation and rule development which may result in refinery compliance concerns.
  • Monitor ongoing soil/groundwater remediation efforts, assist with remediation related programs.
  • Conduct negotiations with regulatory agencies for obtaining operating permits and variances.
  • Review environmental compliance reports 
  • Coordinate regulatory requests for permit information and data with refinery operating departments.
  • Oversees data gathering and analysis efforts from other operating and technical groups necessary for long range environmental compliance.
  • Responsible for selection, assignment, development and appraisal of Environmental staff.
  • Participate in environmental auditing programs as assigned.
  • Assist with overall development and implementation of an environmental management system.
 
Skills and Quanlifications required for the role:
  • BS degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline. 
  • 10+ years performing environmental duties directly in a petroleum refinery or petrochemical facility.
  • Knowledge of and experience with French/EU environmental regulations/legislation.
  • Direct experience with soil/groundwater remediation activities.
  • Legally authorized to work in France on a regular, full-time basis without restrictions
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.  Must be able to work well with all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to recognize environmental compliance issues, assess risk and develop mitigation plans 
  • Effective presentation and team building skills as well as the ability to influence others
