Senior Telecommunications & Security Systems Engineer

Overview

We have an exciting contract opportunity to join our global EPC client as a Senior Telecommunications & Security Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex system studies including Radio Frequency (RF), Wireless LAN (WLAN), Public Address (PA) coverage, CCTV data traffic analysis, distributed storage, and network bandwidth allocation.
• Review, audit, and develop major telecommunication system and equipment specifications including RF/WLAN, telephony, Outside Cable Systems (OCS), Structured Cabling Systems (SCS), and weather monitoring systems.
• Develop, review, and audit telecommunication equipment location philosophies and guidelines for medium to large projects, considering area classifications and design requirements.
• Perform and review engineering calculations, system schematics, and wiring diagrams for telecommunications systems.
• Design and specify integrated telecommunication and physical security systems for medium to large-scale projects.
• Develop and review project Scope of Services and Scope of Facilities across all project phases.
• Apply advanced knowledge in telecommunications systems design, integration, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system alignment with project objectives and standards.

Qualifications

• Accredited four (4) year degree in a relevant field or equivalent (minimum 10 years of experience with a degree, or 14 years combined education and experience if non-degreed).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders including clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
• Demonstrated technical expertise required to perform advanced telecommunications and security systems engineering tasks.
• Ability to interpret and apply local, provincial/state, and federal regulations, codes, and standards.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage time-sensitive project deliverables.
• Membership in a recognized technical or professional society is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of discipline-specific codes, standards, and material/equipment selection, including cost considerations.
• Experience with effort-hour estimating, staff forecasting, and project resource planning.
• Proven ability to lead and manage large-scale projects, including project setup, scheduling, progress tracking, and close-out.
• Practical field experience in telecommunications and/or security systems implementation.
• Proficiency with standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, and presentations).
• Relevant industry certifications such as RCDD, iNARTE, TIA, or equivalent are considered an asset.
• Certifications from major vendors such as Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE), Motorola, or similar are considered an asset.
