We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Environmental Officer to join our team in Francistown. This role is ideal for a motivated individual passionate about environmental compliance, sustainability, and operational excellence, particularly within industrial or power plant environments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with environmental legislation, regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and risk assessments on site.
- Monitor waste management, pollution control, and overall environmental performance.
- Prepare accurate environmental reports and maintain compliance documentation.
- Liaise with supervisors, contractors, and relevant stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Support the implementation of environmental procedures, permits, and management systems.
- Deliver environmental training and awareness sessions to site personnel.
- Investigate environmental incidents and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Respond effectively to environmental emergencies.
- Promote and support sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills Requirements:
- SAMTRAC Environmental Management (or equivalent qualification).
- Proven experience in an environmental role (experience on power plant or industrial sites highly advantageous).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A hands-on, solutions-driven individual.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to compliance.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Passion for environmental sustainability and safety.
