Environmental Technical Lead

Our client, a leading environmental consultancy, is seeking an Environmental Technical Lead to support the delivery of high-impact environmental services across the UK Oil and Gas sector. Based in Aberdeen, this role is pivotal in ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and strategic environmental leadership in a fast-paced consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Project Delivery

• Serve as the technical authority for environmental support on UK Oil and Gas projects.
• Lead the delivery of environmental assessments, ensuring quality, compliance, and innovation.
• Develop and approve technical reports, environmental documentation, and strategic guidance.
• Ensure all deliverables meet applicable environmental legislation and industry standards.

Client Engagement & Business Development

• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert environmental insight and solutions.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships across the project lifecycle.
• Lead business development initiatives, including bid writing and proposal development.
• Support the growth of the client portfolio through strategic engagement and market insight.

Team Leadership & Mentoring

• Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
• Contribute to recruitment and team development in line with business growth.
• Promote knowledge sharing and continuous professional development within the team.

Governance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure technical excellence and quality assurance across all environmental outputs.
• Prepare cost estimates and manage project budgets, schedules, and scopes.
• Support internal audits, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills, Experience & Education

Essential:

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in environmental consultancy within the UK Oil and Gas sector.
• Chartered status with a recognized professional body (e.g., CEnv).
• Proven track record in leading environmental projects and delivering high-quality outputs.
• Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent communication, client engagement, and technical writing skills.

Desirable:

• Experience in strategic environmental planning, decommissioning, or offshore energy projects.
• Familiarity with environmental permitting, impact assessments, and sustainability frameworks.
• Experience presenting at industry events or engaging with regulatory bodies.
