Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop a team of General Accountants, Fixed Asset Accountant and Finance Operations Accountant.
- Ensure clear responsibilities, workload distribution, and individual performance monitoring.
- Provide training, coaching and support to build technical and soft skills.
- Supervise the monthly general ledger close process ensuring accurate and timely posting of transactions in compliance with IFRS, loan agreements and Engie’s accounting policies.
- Oversee the proper accounting of fixed assets, ensuring compliance with internal policies and IFRS standards.
- Coordinate with the Fixed Asset Accountant for timely capitalization, depreciation, and asset retirement.
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable activities to ensure accurate invoice processing, timely payments, effective cash collection, and reliable reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, payment terms, and support continuous improvement in AP/AR processes.
- Proactively monitor risks (Segregation of Duties), implement corrective actions, and respond to internal/external audit queries.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational risks.
- Actively contribute to SAP developments, UAT testing, and system upgrades.
- Act as key finance contact for operational teams for accounting queries and support.
- Act as team player and support other accounting teams when necessary (e.g. SMART reporting actual).
- Liaise with Tax, Procurement, Treasury, and Reporting functions for alignment and information exchange.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- National Diploma or BComm Degree in Accounting/Financial Management
- 8-10 years in general accounting, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
- CASA, post articles 10 years +.
- Must have a high degree of skill in Business Computing Applications such as Word Processors, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Enterprise Resource Planning applications (SAP or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of IFRS, audit requirements, and South African regulatory framework.
