My Client has an opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager on an interim basis, who will be primarily responsible for all of the policies, practices, and operations for the Safety, Health and Environmental functions within Company operations
Responsibility
Implementation and enforcement of policies, procedures and systems to provide for a safe and secure business operation
Deliver a fit for purpose HSE service measured against key deliverable including lost time incidents
Drive and maintain the corporate global HSE reputation through supporting cultural change concerning HSE
Provide the necessary advice, guidance and support to all colleagues including senior management on all HSE matters
Perform regular audits and monitor HSE performance to identify areas for improvement, and ensure that appropriate corrective or preventative actions are taken, including follow-up reviews
Responsibility for the maintenance, control and continuous improvement of the corporate Safety Management Systems
Lead any necessary accident/incident investigation and reporting
Ensure that all emergencies are handled in accordance with legislation, business continuity plans, policies and procedures
Ensure that emergency response plans are in place, and regularly checked and tested to confirm validity and that local emergency response teams are operational at all times
Ensure that all safety & environmental issues are managed in accordance with the international standards and relevant legislation
Maintain a visible site presence of HSE
Apply the overall corporate standards and guidelines on HSE
Skills / Qualifications
Educated to degree standard in a relevant field
Certification in safety management (NEBOSH certificate or equivalent); certification in quality management would be advantageous
Auditing techniques (QMS Internal Auditor or equivalent)
A proven track record in a HSE Manager role with experience within the laboratory environment
General knowledge and experience on laboratory testing practices and technology
Implement HSE Policies and associated management systems
High quality investigative skills
Experience of communicating verbally and in writing on complex matters
Must be willing to travel
